How to rotate a PDF

Rotate a PDF when one or more pages are sideways or upside down. Page rotation changes how the page is displayed; it is different from physically rotating an image object inside the page.

Step 1: open the PDF and inspect the pages

A scan may contain only one sideways page while the rest of the document is already correct. Check the page previews first so you do not rotate pages that are already readable.

Step 2: select one page, several pages or all pages

If only a few pages are wrong, select those pages individually. If the complete document has the same incorrect orientation, rotating all pages is faster.

Step 3: rotate left or right

A 90° clockwise or counterclockwise turn fixes most sideways pages. A page that is upside down needs a 180° change, which can be achieved with two 90° rotations or a whole-document 180° action where available.

Step 4: save and verify the result

Does rotating a PDF change image quality?

A page-level rotation does not require converting the page into a new bitmap. eggPDF changes the page orientation in the PDF and saves a new file, so text and vector content are not intentionally flattened into images.
